Squad changes and the main season target

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 08:31 AM PST

Today I am going to tell you about the preparations to the 2nd season. Boston United will start the season in Blue Square Premier League.

Current squad analysis

I created the special customized squad view to analyse and compare my players' performance quickly:

I made several conclusions about my players from this screen. For example, too low Shorts on Target percentage by forwards and midfielders. I don't like also amount of won headers by my central midfielders Nikolas, Zenaba and Sissoko. Two my central backs Elenge and Vermooten have the same problem… Though they are only substitution players… In short this analysis helped me to realize fully my squad's weaknesses.

The largest problem of Boston United is poor forwards.

Our top goal scorer Lilian Laslandes lost his physics – Pace attribute has fallen to 3.

Lilian Laslandes's problem

The 2nd forward Moses-Garvey is merely poor at all:

Here is his statistics of the whole season:

It doesn't impress.

Additionally I can state that I need:

- Good AMR for substitution bench.

- More central defenders

- Maybe 1-2 backup MCs

Players out

First of I got rid of unnecessary players easing wage budget:

Players out

Nice that I even managed to sell Moses-Garvey for $12K.

Another important step – release on free of Lilian Laslandes paying all his next year's salary ($800 per week).

He was very slow in the end of season. I should find quicker forwards!

Players in

Here are my new signings:

New Boston players, FM 2011

4 of them – Obed, Tallack, Munns and Bunn - were sent to Reserves squad. I can allow this to myself because these guys have very low wages around $50 per week. Others will be used in the first squad, for sure.

1. James Collins, FC

James Collins in Football Manager 2011

Collins is our new leading forward and most valuable player. Hope he will become a top goal scorer in Blue Square Premier League.

2. Daniel Devine, DC

Another Irish player who will perform from substitution bench most likely. Though this guy has certain prospects to grow into the main squad player during trainings.

3. Danny Uchechi, FC

Our new 2nd forward. Much better than Moses-Garvey. Uchechi is great at speed but not so good in Finishing and Composure.

4. Cheick Toure, DC

Toure possesses very good Pace, Acceleration, Teamwork, Work Rate, Natural Fitness, Tackling… From the other hand, his obvious weaknesses are winning headers and Concentration. Telling you the secret, I have hidden hope for his famous surname Подмигивающая рожица

5. Toni Silva, AMR/AML

A really prospective winger from Liverpool! He will start matches from the substitution bench in this season. Though I believe he may become even better than Sakali (my main AMR) during trainings. It's important to mention that Toni Silva can also play either AML or AMR.

That's all about my main transfers. I can only add that currently Boston United has 4 players called up for international duty:

Season targets

Boston United is predicted by media to take the 19th position. They made the forecast before the transfers as usually.

I don't agree with media. I don't agree with promotion odds from Sky Bet below:

BSP league odds

That's why I claimed the club's board I can win promotion this year to League 2:

Season expectations, FM 2011

There is no time to stay in Blue Square Premier League. Moreover, I analysed the squads of the most BSP clubs. Well, they are not strong. I suppose my squad is one of the best now, and we can even win the title.

It's a quite another matter regarding League 2 clubs. They have perceptibly better players… Anyway it's early to think about League 2.
