Boston transfers: New team for League 2!

Posted: 03 Feb 2011 10:30 PM PST

I had 2 squad problems after promotion to League 2:

- wages grew high increasing by promotion league bonuses

- levels of Blue Square North League players are mostly not enough for League 2

Therefore I decided to make a squad revolution selling and signing many players.

Sold players

One of the first victims of my transfer policy was James Collins - Fans' player of the year and the best goal scorer of the last season. He was the main "salary eater" having $1.6K per week:

I sold him and disappointed one of Boston favourites with this:

Here is the full list of sold and free transferred players:

$250K – the money that went to balance strengthening club's financial force. I think it's important if you are going to ask board to build new stadium or enhance training facilities.

New Boston players

Huge amount of new players arrived to the club!

I'll try to single out the most interesting signings by positions.

Goalkeepers

3 new goaliesУлыбка Maybe it's too much but I liked them all. Most likely experienced Thierry Goree will be the main goalkeeper.

Central Defenders

I formed a new pair of main central defenders. Experienced and known Lubomir Michalik + young and talented John Dunleavy.

Central Midfielders

Sydney Plaatjies

Sydney became the player with the highest wage in the team. He has excellent attributes for League 2 level. Will use him at MRC position with Advanced Playmaker role.

Franklin Anzite

New defensive midfielder in Boston United. His Tackling is 9, though other attributes impressed me.

Peter Leven

Classic MC, pretty creative one.

Steve MacLean

One of the most important signings. MacLean can be used either as central midfielder or as striker.

Wingers

Algassimou Balde

Quick African with good dribbling. That's what I needed to replace one of team leaders – Abdeltareck Sakali. Sakali will perform mostly from substitution bench.

Cedrik Evina

Evina's speed is awesome. Another good thing is that this guy is from Arsenal (my favourite team). Though other attributes don't impress, of course. He can be good backup player who able to play as AML and DL.

Forwards

Shiny James Collins, poor Omar Koroma and weird Danny Uchechi were replaced by 2 very solid strikers. I believe they will compete for the main squad position. Maybe I'll apply rotation approach.

Final words before the League 2 start

A lot of new signings worsen Boston team play. Now the main task is team blending. The newbies should learn how to cooperate together efficiently. It's very important in a light of my season target: promotion to League 1.

The first half of the season will be really tough due to adaptation process. So I hope to get into TOP 8 in January. After that when my players start working as a real team we will fight for promotion. It's the most probable scenario.
