

This is short but, I am sure, useful guide that will help non-expert Football Manager 2011 gamers with player preferred moves choice. Here is the list of the most important PPMs grouped by positions in FM 2011. But we'll start with player preferred moves that are great for player at any position:
Versatile PPMs, efficient for all positions
- Curls ball
- Gets crowd going
- Hits free-kicks with power. Indeed advanced levels of Finishing, Long Shots and Free Kicks are must.
- Likes to lob keeper. Technique, Composure, Finishing and Decisions are important here.
- Likes to round keeper. The same attributes as in for the previous PPM + Dribbling.
- Looks for pass rather than attempting to score. For players with low Short on Target percentage. Below 40%.
- Places shots
- Shoots from distance. The same attributes as for previous PPM + Long Shots.
- Uses outside of foot
- Winds up opponents
GK
- Avoid using weaker foot
DC
- Does not dives into tackles
- Marks opponent tightly. Marking, Strength and Positioning are very important.
- Tries long range passes. In case of high Passing and Decision skills.
- Plays short simple passes
DL / DR
- Dives into tackles. High levels of Anticipation, Tackling and Aggression needed.
- Tries long range passes. In case of high Passing and Decision skills.
- Plays short simple passes
WBL / WBR
- Dives into tackles. High levels of Anticipation, Tackling and Aggression needed.
- Gets forward whenever possible
- Runs with ball down left/right
DMC
- Comes deep to get ball
- Dictates Tempo
- Dives into tackles. High levels of Anticipation, Tackling and Aggression needed.
- Marks opponent tightly
- Plays short simple passes
- Stops play
MC
- Arrives late in opposition area
- Dives into tackles. High levels of Anticipation, Tackling and Aggression needed.
- Dictates Tempo
- Stops play
- Tries killer balls often
ML / MR
- Gets forward whenever possible
- Hugs line
- Knocks ball past opponent
- Runs with ball down left/right
- Tries tricks
AML / AMR
- Cuts inside. Only in case if your inside forward can be used as Messi or Ribery. High Dribbling, Finishing, Long Shots are necessary.
- Gets into opposition area
- Hugs line. If you tend to use player in role of Winger, not Inside Forward.
- Knocks ball past opponent
- Likes to try to beat offside trap
- Runs with ball often
- Runs with ball down left/right
- Moves into channels
- Plays one twos
- Tries tricks
AMC
- Arrives late in opposition area
- Comes deep to get ball
- Dwells on ball. Composure, Strength, Creativity and Decisions attributes are important here.
- Gets into opposition area
- Runs with ball often
- Runs with ball through centre
- Moves into channels
- Plays one twos
- Tries killer balls often
- Tries tricks
- Tries to play way out of trouble
FC
- Avoid using weaker foot
- Attempts overhead kicks
- Knocks ball past opponent
- Likes to try to beat offside trap
- Moves into channels
- Runs with ball often
- Plays one twos
- Tries first time shots
- Tries tricks
- Shoots with power. Finishing, Composure, Technique should be high.
