Posted: 23 May 2011 09:56 PM PDT Seems like that. It's a pity but it's hard to believe that Boston United can reduce the distance to the 6th position: 5 points – it's too much. Or not? How do you think? Take a look at the last 6 fixtures: Boston matchesIn January we managed to fail 2 matches. Burnley was predictably too tough for us. But Coventry… It was suddenly lost game together with 3 points. Afterwards surprises continued. Boston United beat Newcastle United in FA Cup! You can find the match details and video of goals in this post: Boston United – Newcastle United 2:1 FebruaryThe most short month has prepared quite long series of 7 matches for us. I had strange feelings in the end after all of them. You see 3 away Championship matches were won, 3 home matches are draws. So Boston United didn't perform good enough at home loosing 6 points. Please look at the following screen shots: You see Boston didn't seize on advantage they had in the both matches. Unfortunately.
MarchDraw curse continued in the March. 6 points were lost again in 3 matches. Only one of the draws pleased me: Blackburn – Boston 1:1. Blackburn is at the 2nd position in the table and going to return into the Premier League this season. It's very strong team having Paul Robinson, Matthew Kilgallon, Wilson Palacious and Andreas Ivanschitz in the squad. Ipswich – Boston match was the most inspiring one perhaps even in the whole season. It was the wonderful comeback provided by my tactical trick: The point is in that this season I decided to train very attacking formation in Match Preparation screen: I tried this tactics at first in this game. Actually it was intended to be used in such cases when opponent has one player sent off the field. And it worked!!! Attacking mentality, AMC with Trequartista role, pushing higher up and several other features of the tactics played a vital role! 3 goals in 5 minutes saved the match!
Boston playersThe main topic I want to talk about now is solution of forward problem described in the previous post. I can't say it's 100%solved but it doesn't so keen as in the middle of the season. The solution is Ryan Mason who has moved to the 2nd line in the player list sorted by average rating: Ryan MasonI took away Boston playmaker from MC position and placed it as forward. Ryan started to score almost in every match. So I think it's quite acceptable variant of leading forward. Should be enough to promote to the Premier League. It's just sad that it can happen most likely in the next season only Or not? What's your opinion? |
