After the first half of the PL season

I am pretty sure the season 8 will be very complicated and dramatic. It's truly difficult to survive in the Premier League. Its clubs have perceptibly better squads than in the 1st season.

Premier League matches of Boston United

Premier-League-Table-Season8

I managed to get 8 points in November and December matches. Good result as for me. It allowed to move up to the 17th position in the table and leave the relegation zone. Currently if you look into the table you'll 4 outsiders there with almost the same goal difference: Boston United, Fulham, Burnley, Birmingham. I think Peterborough and Sunderland can join this company, so it will be really tough battle in the end.

Here is the list of the latest played matches:

played matches

The worst one was against terrifying Manchester City. They merely annihilated my team in easy playing way:

From the other hand I can be proud with the results in the games against straight competitors who has just somewhat higher level of the squad: Middlesbrough and Huddersfield. Efficient performance from Rodrigo and Mario Balotelli allowed to win against Huddersfield and record the first away victory in the short Premier League history of Boston! Party

3 problems with the players

Boston-Players

Worst-Boston-Players

Problem #1: Weak defence

We conceded a lot of goals. And this is not because of goalie. Goalkeeper George Forsyth is perhaps the best transfer during the last summer. The defensive line contains only one quite good and very prospective player - Marcelinho. Other guys make too many mistakes and often overcome by more technical opponents. By the way, don't look at the average rating of Pichu Atienza. He just had 2 matches when he scored 2 goals and got high marks (something near 8.7-8.9).

Problem #2: Squad blending

I don't feel the squad blended. Quite often the cooperate badly and don't understand one another. They probably need some time.

Problem #3: Transfer mistakes and disappointments

It turned out that I made several transfer mistakes. TraditionallyПечальная рожица  First of all, I am totally disappointed by Maxi Pereira. I though he would be able to become the first squad right back, but his pace (10) hindered much. Going to sell him during the winter transfer window.

Michael Dawson. It's always tempting to sign a well-known popular footballer. I swallowed the bait and don't know now how the central defender with Pace=7 and Acceleration=8 can be helpful against quick Premier League attackers. Shame on me. Thinking

Iago Aspas and Christoph Leitgeb don't perform as they should do. May be I have to give them more time for adaptation.

Youth of December

These 2 young players are one of the best in the squad. And they earned to get to the Young Player of the Month Award in December:

Mario Balotelli

This is his form in the latest matches:

Mario Balotelli

It's nice to see quite the confident performance with decent ratings. Surely Middlesbrough game stands by itself. Mario made the vital assist and got the red card in the first half.

Next Boston matches

Next-Two-Month

I don't see how we can take at least 1 point in the next 2 matches. But later on… Fulham, West Brom, Burnley, Peterborough, Birmingham… I pretend to get 3 victories and 2 draws. It would be great result for my Boston United as the weakest team in the league.
