Boston: Surprise from defence

Posted: 04 Aug 2011 09:48 PM PDT

Dear blog readers,

Boston United started the 9th season marvellously being at the 9th table position after 11 fixtures. I didn't expect that we would be so high after the squad revolution made during summer transfer window. Moreover, the confident performance from Boston defence became a truly big surprise for me! Surprise

Tournaments and matches

9th postion in the league

11 matches played 9 goals scored and only 12 goal conceded… I hope it's not temporary level of defensive performance from my team. Pay attention: 7 of 12 goals were conceded in 2 away matches vs Man Utd and Arsenal.

Boston matches

1:0 win became the most popular result for Boston United. Though these one-goal victories were pretty different depending on an opponent. We had a confident advantage in the matches against Bolton and West Brom, equal game with Bristol City and lucky one against Chelsea that I has considered the best one of the reported period.

The best match

Vs Chelsea

Fantastic saves of George Forsyth brought Boston United fine victory! Applause

Thanks to Forsyth

My misery

And this is the worst game actually… We failed the 2nd round League Cup game against the Championship team due to very inefficient attacking efforts Sad

Hope FA Cup will be more lucky for my team this year.

Additionally, you may also read 3 match reports at my FM Crowd blog:

vs Tottenham: Nice start

vs Bristol City: Two vital goals by Adebayor

vs Wolvers:     Luck is against us

Players

Here is the traditional Boston player list sorted by average rating:

Boston players

Scott Cuthbert is certainly the man of the season start. The central back did his best in the most of the games getting 7.15 average rating in the end. Cowboy

I want also to praise our goalie George Forsyth whose merit in the 1:0 victories is high as well.

New players

Now some words about new players' blending into the squad. I will singe out those who are good in their adaptation process and who are bad.

Good adaptation level:

- Gary Deegan (MC)

- Adama Soumaoro (DC)

- Mohammed Sissoko (MC)

Bad adaptation:

- Mike Okoduwa (MC, AMR)

- Robson (MC)

- Esteban Stivan (ST)

Unfortunately, our young wonderkid Esteban Stivan don't score goals for a while. He has serious problems in squad blending. The same disappointment about another wonderkid Robson. He wasn't even able to feel himself comfortable in England, so I gave him leave of absence to visit native Brazil.

Robson[1]

Youngsters have more adaptation problems than experienced players.

As usually I will have many interesting matches during the upcoming period. Can't to play against Huddersfield! They promoted into the Premier League together with my Boston. And now they are unexpectedly on the 2nd position!

Hope you liked the post. Stay tuned to Boston story and my blog. Any comment is always welcomed! Big Hug
