Season 3. Performing above expectations Posted: 18 Jan 2012 09:57 PM PST Hi guys! Another Q.P.R. story post today. I am excited to share the latest news because my team plays beautiful football and gains results which nobody expected before the season. 11 matches: 7 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses. Premier League matchesFirst of all I want to emphasize on my first victory over Manchester City. It was the even match but Jay Rodriguez and Ivelin Popov slightly overcame Man City's attackers in efficiency scoring the decisive 3rd goal. I suppose Q.P.R. has confirmed its pretensions on a Top-4 place in this season instead of Europa League qualification! We had several quite easy wins taking maximal points amount against Nottinham Forest, Sunderland, Stoke, West Brom, Aston Villa. Only Liverpool as one of title contenders coped with our defense. Andy Carroll made a double and became man of the match. So you can consider the Anfield game as the worst one during the reported period.
Finally, Q.P.R. is located at the 2nd position in the table. It's really awesome to see The Rangers here during the 3rd season! I hoped to get into Top-4 during the 4th season if you look into Q.P.R. story targets announced at the very start. It's strange to see Man City, Tottenham, Arsenal and Man Utd slightly behind the group of 3 leaders. Most likely the situation will change after December-January matches. I would even bet two Manchester clubs and Tottenham will join our title battle.
League CupComplete disappointment. It's hard to understand how my guys managed to loose the home match vs Swansea! Just look at the stats: Swansea (actually Espen Ruud) scored the goal from dangerous free kick. The Rangers didn't answer. Now I think it's my mistake because I decided to give a rest to Jay Rodriguez putting Yaya Sanogo into the first eleven…
Europa LeagueOK, let's forget about League Cup because I am enjoying Europa League Q.P.R. has one in their group, though it didn't happen so confidently as I expected after a draw. But 11 points were enough to take the first position.
And now - draws of the next 2 rounds. Rich Russian Anji still led by Samuel Eto'O is a very interesting opponent for the next round. Dangerous one I should say. They left behind Hannover in their group and scored 14 goals in 6 matches. If we win against Russians, most likely mighty Sevilla will be awaiting us in the next round. I suppose there's no need in commenting their strength.
Q.P.R. playersOK, now I want to show some information about my players. I have nobody to criticize this time. Actually any QPR player can receive a praise. Again and again, Jay Rodriguez is the best performer in the squad. This English talent is a real goal scoring machine! But he is not leading in Premier League Goal Scorers rating as you would expect. Fantastic Edison Cavani proves he can be better than Rooney having 23 goals in 16 matches!!!
Am I going to make transfers in winter? This is the question I asked myself. Well, the first position to strengthen coming on my mind is DR. Right back Andreas Hinkel is a cool guy of course… But he is not becoming younger. Andreas will celebrate his 32nd birthday in March. His backup Jordan Spence is worse as a right back who should join attacks and cross balls pretty often. Therefore I will try to consider some candidates and arrange a transfer of DR. Perhaps I will buy few cheap talented younsters to the Reserves as well.
Upcoming matchesYou see my next 4 matches are difficult and really important. I think the results in the matches can influence our fate in the Premier League much. So I am concentrated on the Christmas period now.
Excited to be blogging for you, Vitaliy Mokosiy |
