Season 6 begins with unexpected crisis Posted: 19 Apr 2012 10:15 PM PDT Yes, dear readers… I could hardly expect to have this kind of the start with title challenge ambitions. 2 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses in the league, Carling Cup defeat in the 3rd round - all these results made me really sad. Premier LeagueNow I have 7 points distance to the top after 6 games played only. Well, well, well… If I don't start winning every match, the title will swim away during the first season half. Take a look at the match results above. You may see problems appeared with 2 dry draws against Wigan and Norwich. Suddenly my attackers stopped scoring goals! And I cannot explain it completely. QPR - Wigan 0:0Look at Jay Rodriguez who wasted 4 good chances putting me into anger.
Norwich - QPR 0:0One more wasteful 0:0 game. We could and should score at least twice :( Both these matches together with sudden loss to Stoke influenced players' morale level very much. It caused our loss to Tottenham and defeat in Carling Cup in the end.
Another Carling Cup failureIt's funny but Carling Cup has been the most difficult tournament for me. I managed to get into quarterfinals only after the 5 seasons. This time another poor failure happened. The battle at Ewood Park finished with penalties. Carlos Fierro didn't score the first strike and underlined his poor form. Here is the history of Carling Cup for Q.P.R. Sometimes the draw was against us giving a grand-club in the starting round. Once I managed to fail against Swansea due to a squad rotation… So sad.
Champions LeagueThe only tournament that is OK for now. Though I understand all important matches are ahead, AC Milan and OM seem very serious opponents.
Q.P.R. playersHouston, we have a problem… with morale level! It's very important to pay attention to this issue. I am going to have many player interactions after the future matches. It's my main idea is getting out of "low morale pit". Additionally, some player will be able to raise morale playing for the reserve team. Among the reasons of starting failures I can also single out the following ones:
Strikers shooting like loosersAnother serious problem is less obvious but strange and painful. It's at first when all my forwards stopped scoring goals. Jay Rodriguez hits the ball straight in goalies almost every time! Carlos Fierro can't shot on target… I hope the strikers will come out of the crisis soon. Jay Rodriguez Carlos Fierro
Oscar goes to… MC position!Good news is that I found a new excellent playmaker! It's the issue I explained in the last squad analysis post, and you were really helping me during the discussion there. I tried Brazilian Oscar - he has been coping with this role better than I could expect. You see he had 3 goals + 3 assists in 3 matches. Though may be it's too early to make conclusions, I understand.
Upcoming fixturesQPR should try to do my best to win against AC Milan. It could be the best scenario of our morale resurrection. Away games against Liverpool and Man Utd will be very important in sense of our title ambitions this season. Wish me a good luck to get out of the crisis! Any advices are welcomed!
