Simbin – Aquila CR1 Sports GT In-Game Previews

Posted: 16 May 2012 04:53 AM PDT

Simbin has shown off first in-game previews of their newest creation, the virtual version of the Aquila CR1 Sports GT.

The shots show off the car on-track from four different angles. As with earlier development previews of the Aquila CR1 Sports GT, there’s no mention yet which Simbin title this car is being created for.

The V8-powered Aquila CR1 Sports GT is the latest brainchild of Aquila Racing Cars, a Danish race car constructor that was founded back in 2003. Inspired by Le Mans Prototype design, the car is aimed at track day & racing school usage, it's not homologated to compete in any major international sports car series.

Update: RaceDepartment reports that Simbin has confirmed that this car is not for GTR3.

Project CARS Crosses 1 Million Community Funding

Posted: 15 May 2012 02:14 PM PDT

Slightly Mad Studios’ Project CARS title has reached an important milestone as the racing simulation has now raised over a million Euro of community funding via the company’s revolutionary World of Mass Development portal.

World of Mass Development allows gamers to be directly involved in the title’s development by testing regular development builds of Project CARS, sharing feedback in the development forum and voting on key decisions regarding the title.

Members can choose from a variety of tool packs that come with different levels of access, ranging from monthly development builds for Junior members to daily builds and other perks for Senior Manager members. Aside from the unrivaled and transparent access to the development process, members will also earn a share of the revenue once the title is released.

Since the portal’s launch in October 2011, more than a million Euros has been pitched in by the members, bringing the total funding to 2.5 million without a publisher being involved in the process.

A new video trailer of Project CARS has recently hit GameTrailers.com as WMD-member JonZ has put together a stunning piece of video that shows off the current development builds. The video was part of a community-wide contest and received the most member votes, sending it off to one of gaming’s most popular video sites.

Sim racers who want to get involved in the development of Project CARS can do so by visiting WMD and the Project CARS info page.
