Champions League caused misery

Posted: 06 Aug 2012 10:23 PM PDT

It's so hard… I feel Q.P.R. is a force to win Champions League, was a force…

The first problems were faced against Lyon. But we were lucky to survive scoring the decisive goal in 10 minutes till the match end. I described it in True Football Manager+ blog at FM Crowd:

In 10 minutes of getting out of Champions League

Sevilla beats Q.P.R.

Then The Rangers got well-known opponent in quarterfinal - Sevilla. We played in the same CL group this year and had matches in both CL and EL earlier. I was quite confident in our qualification to the next round but… but Q.P.R. attackers didn't manage to score goals at Loftus Road.

QPR - Sevilla

You see we had 3 clear cut and 10 half chances. It's certainly enough to score three times per match. Actually, we had 4 one-on-ones in which Rui Patricio (Sevilla goalie) became a winner in them. Q.P.R. strikers were not efficient this time. Our attack leaders Carlos Fierro and Douglas Costa failed all their moments and got ratings 6.3 and 6.1 correspondingly.

Yellow cards of Holt and Toure, red card of Geis meant that all of them would miss the reply match.

The reply match

Queens Park Rangers was not ready to oppose Sevilla because of numerous injuries and disqualifications. Look, my team was missing the following important players from the first eleven:

- Bernard Holt (DC);

- Zargo Toure (DMC) + his substitution Johannes Geis;

- Daniel Bazan (FC), injured.

- Carlos Fierro (FC), injured just before the match.

All these guys are vital for Q.P.R. Therefore my team didn't manage to hold on 1:0 score after the beautiful goal of Alonso Romero.

Queens Park Rangers is saying goodbye to the Champions League…

Played matches

Here we had games against weaker clubs but didn't cope with the title pressure twice:

- Sunderland 0:0

- Wigan 1:1

Both matches had to be won of course. Luckily, Manchester City lost some points as well. Now they are in 3 points from us, and we should concentrate on winning the title very much.

Injury table

The main thing I want to tell you here is about injuries of all main QPR strikers. Douglas Costa, Carlos Fierro, Daniel Bazan are all out of the title race for a while. I am worried much to rely on young Alonso Romero, Alfredo Bazan, Sasha Schmitt… Perhaps it would be smart to move John Fleck to striker position instead of one of these youngsters.

Albeit Alonso Romero was pretty much convincing in the last matches. Moreover, he has been showing a real progress during trainings. Therefore I decided to single out the Spanish regen and put some screen shots below.

Finishing the season…

Upcoming matches

Will Q.P.R. win the title at last? It's the only question I am interested in.

Though I can get FA Cup this season as well but it goes onto byplay. Chelsea and Man City are FA Cup contenders together with Q.P.R:

FA Cup semi-finals

Let's try to consider our chances to become Premier League champions. For that we should take a look at Man City match schedule:

Man City matches

Positives Negatives
My Q.P.R. had 3 points lead. Man City has easier schedule.
They won't play Arsenal.
Man City plays in Europa League. Q.P.R. has 3 main attackers injured.

So for now it seems like struggle for the title will last till the finishing Premier League fixtures. I hope much Q.P.R. will gnaw out the first place this season!

Excited to blog for you,
