Q.P.R. Struggling in PL, winning in CL

Posted: 02 May 2012 09:59 PM PDT

The post title is really about my Q.P.R. in the season 6. We have been doing great in the Champions League and FA Cup while staying out of participation in Premier League title race. Instead, my club has opportunity to worsen PL season result if it doesn't win a competition for the 4th position. Just look at the current Premier League table standing:

PL

Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham are my competitors for the 4th line in this season.

Latest matches

13 matches: 8 wins, 4 draws, 1 loss.

Matches

Queens Park Rangers acquired a great form in March. And even the loss to the Red Devils wasn't a bad sign for us. Following the match stats, you should see that QPR deserved a draw at least.

QPR - Man Utd

The best match

The London derby can be considered the best game of all during the reported period. We played very well and created more Clear Cut Chances than Totteham. It's nice to see Jay Rodriguez scoring again…

Tottenham - QPR

The most weird game

A roller-coaster match against Leicester with the strange final score in the end. It happened due to my decision to use the new 4-4-2 attacking formation. QPR players didn't blend into the new formation, though normally it doesn't hinder to win matches against weaker opponents. But not in this case… We had a slight advantage in amount of shots and goal chances but didn't cope with pressure created by Leicester attackers.

Starry newcomer Daniel Bazan was performing as Deep-Lying Forward and scored twice as you see.

Leicester

Champions League performance

Amazing results here as you see. I wasn't surprized much by our total victory over Schalke. But historical 3:1 victory at Santiago Benabeu is merely superb. And I can't say it was a lucky game because Q.P.R. had overcome Spanish grand club completely. Click the links below to see all details of the matches at my FM Crowd blog:

1/8. Q.P.R v Schalke

1/4. Real Madrid - Q.P.R 1:3 (first leg)

I should pass through into semi finals where winner of Chelsea - Shakhtar pair will await me. This year I have a real chance to get into the Champions League final! The reason of that is not the strongest list of opponents in quarterfinals.

Players

Worst players

Central back Samir Breinburg is absolutely fantastic now. He started to score even more often after I decided to select Attacking Set Pieced  as Additional Focus Area in the match preparation section. He has 13 goals as well as Fierro this season!

Douglas Costa

I can't say Breinburg is the best player because Douglas Costa showed unbelievably excellent performance during the last 5 matches.

He has got 4 Man of the Match Awards in them!!!

4 goals, 4 assists in 5 games!

Sale of Zhirkov

I decided to sell Yury Zhirkov when I got an advantageous offer from Rubin. The reasons are on the surface:

- 33 years age

- Too high salary spent on the substitution bench player. It was $77K!

Upcoming matches

Matches in future

I have certain expectations in all three tournaments and am ready to announce them just right now:

- Champions League. Win the trophy!

Q.P.R. has to cease the average competitors who are staying in the tournament. Though I should not forget about Chelsea and Arsenal as the most serious CL cup contenders.

- FA Cup. Win the trophy!

Playing against Liverpool. Then, if we win, Arsenal will meet my team in the final.

- Premier League. Get the 4th position!

Disappointing performance in Premier League can end up without Champions League place for us. I can't permit that and will do my best in the last matches. We have tough games with Man City and Arsenal that should influence much on QPR's destiny in PL.

By the way, I have chance to play against Arsenal 3 times in 1 month if our ways will be crossed in the finals of FA Cup and Champions League.

That's all for now.

Excited to blog for you,

Vitaliy Mokosiy
