Posted: 12 Aug 2012 12:28 AM PDT Dear readers, I feel myself a looser. Manchester City of Jose Mourinho beat me in both Premier League and FA Cup final striking out all my season 8 expectations. My Q.P.R. has missed something, probably luck..
Premier LeagueAs you see, 88 points result wasn't enough for QPR to win the title. But it was enough for Manchester City due to better goal difference. It's sad to be the 2nd, especially taking into account that QPR has been at the top from the 3rd fixture to 32nd one. Here are the last season matches played by Queens Park Rangers.
Loosing to Arsenal (the most difficult club for me to play against) made serious impact on our title chances. But the crucial influence was caused by away draw against Aston Villa whose players were having very low morale level. My attackers didn't seize this opportunity. They were very inaccurate during shots. The problem is that all 3 main strikers - Carlos Fierro, Daniel Bazan, Douglas Costa - were injured during these two matches. Their younger substitutions were not really ready for big decisive games like that… No luck for me.
FA CupSemi FinalIt was a match when my young strikers replacing main ones showed themselves great on the pitch. Two goals including decisive one were scored by Schmitt and Alonso Romero. They did help to overcome Rs arch-rival in the semi-final with perceptible advantage in shots. I was very optimistic regarding the final at Wembley stadium…
FinalMy optimism ended with stupid goal by Man City right back Simon Babayaro (mentioned in the best regens post) on the last minutes. Actually it was my fault. I changed to attacking tactics for the ending match period. Just felt we can push Manchester City and score a goal. I shouldn't do that as you see. Additionally, I can say Joe Hart helped his team to win FA Cup making some fine saves.
Q.P.R. playersI can't tell you I am unhappy with any of my players. They were good, really good this season. Albeit, slight underperformance can be noted about Kyle Redhead (DC) and Rachid El Amrani (DMC). Both are very young and have to play better football next season. Meanwhile, Alonso Romero impressed me with his strikes and determination during important matches. Frankly speaking, I considered him as weakest forward at the season start giving preference to Pachequinho, Schmitt, Alfredo Bazan. Now I changed my mind of course! Finally, John Fleck turned into one of Q.P.R. leaders at playmaker position. Debutant Zargo Toure became a successful transfer of summer. He is a type of anchor man I needed much.
Fantastic Carlos FierroCarlos Fierro was simply the best scoring 46 goals in 49 matches. His 35% goals/shot attempts and 70% shots on targets percentages are merely amazing. I don't know if I will ever have a better striker! His speed, finishing, dribbling decide destiny of many matches. Though I should confess Fierro wasn't so efficient in the big spring games this season as I expected. By the way, I had the separate post about Carlos Fierro in this blog. Read it if you missed it! Carlos Fierro got awarded by QPR fans as the best player in this season. Moreover, he took the 3rd position among the best PL goal scorers and the 5th in the Average Rating ranking: Assists in Premier League
Key Headers in Premier LeagueMy goalie and striker got into CL dream team which, for sure, is pleasant.
The season 8 is over. Achievements page renewed. What's your opinion of Q.P.R. performance? Didn't you get tired to wait for PL title and victory in Champions League? I am not. Though I can't hide my disappointment with the season ending.
Excited to blog for you, Vitaliy Mokosiy |
